WildFire Pepper Spray

Thanks for coming to the Wildfire Pepper spray FAQ. We encournage you to look around and see what you can use for your personal self defense.

What is the shelf life of a pepper spray?

We all get less effective as we get older and OC is the same. The maximum length that it is good is about 3 to 4 years. Some have an expiration date printed on the canister. The OC remains good but the pressure tends to drop, which means that the spray is not very powerful. The larger the container the less likely this is to happen. A small, lipstick size container is prone to this after a few years.

 How big is the canister?

It ranges from small, lipstick sized to ones that fit comfortable in one hand and are designed for bears. Many people have a variety of sizes available to them for various needs. For instance, a bedside canister should be large enough to find easily at night, and have enough OC to use against several people at a distance.

Is Wildfirepepper spray difficult to use?

Everything worth doing is worth doing correctly. A few minutes practice with pepper spray every couple of weeks will make everything go much smoother. Remember, it is designed to use under the pressure of being attacked, and by a person who is not highly trained in martial arts. One hand is all that is required, and you can keep the other free to ward off the other person.

Can I target practice with pepper spray?

We have a number of practice units available that have no OC it them. I would advise to purchase and use them. Practice makes perfect, and when you need the pepper spray being in practice is a good idea.

What is the range of pepper spray?

The mist spray reaches about 7 feet while the more direct spray can reach past 10 feet.

How long should one spray on an individual?

The basic answer is as much as necessary to ward off an attack. Usually a brief one second spray is all that is necessary but if the wind is blowing or he blocks it with a hand or arm it may take more. If he is under the influence of alcohol or drugs he may not notice it right away. The general rule is to keep spraying until he is incapacitated. However, be aware that if you use the whole container on one person you may become vulnerable if there is another person involved in the attack.

How long does Wildfire pepper spray last, when fired continuously?

About 10 to 15 seconds for a small container, and 20 to 30 seconds for a larger one.

I hope you learned a little in this Wildfire pepper spray FAQ. Be sure to look around the store and see what you can use for you self-defense and protection
